Stopped by Fahahaeel X-Cite yesterday and saw that they had a NIKOR 50mm 1.8d lens for only 34kd which is the same price as Amazon.com. I’ve actually been wanting to get this lens so I decided to go ahead and buy it.
It is a really good lens. The quality is very very good, very sharp images compared to the kit 18-55mm. The bokeh ability of this lens is wonderful as well, giving smooth results in the blured areas, but keeping the in focus areas sharp!
The lens doesn’t auto focus on my D3100 but it’s not a big deal as I’ve used older cameras a lot and am used to focusing manually. The focus ring is really easy to turn. Another great thing about this lens is that it’s compact and makes my D3100 weigh a lot less than with the 18-55mm lens attached, and makes the length of the camera shorter as well! The lens feels rugged. It doesn’t feel cheap like the kit lens.
I have yet to take some crazy bokeh shots, but I did take one picture of my niece and it sure is bokeh-licious!
I am going to have a lot of fun with this lens.
