Both shot at the same settings and aiming the camera at the same location. This is to show the difference between a 35mm focal length and 50mm focal length on a DX or cropped sensor Nikon camera. I’m posting about this because recently I brought up the issue of the 50mm being too zoomed in on the D3100.
50mm on a DX/crop sensor camera looks much more like 80mm on a film or FX/full frame camera, which makes it a bit difficult to use as an every day walk around lens. The 35mm on a DX/crop sensor camera looks much more like 50mm on a film or FX/full frame camera. In fact, when I put up my D3100 with the 35mm lens to my face, the focal length I see looks extremely similar to 50mm on my Nikon FM2n film camera.
And oh yeah, I bought the 35mm 1.8g lens and that’s how I’m showing the difference between the 35mm and the 50mm. Review of this cool lens coming soon.
